Thai Bodywork

Thai style bodywork is more casual than a typical western massage and is typically done on the floor on a padded mat fully clothed. Based on the Thai understanding of energy lines, the practitioner employs techniques using their whole body to feel for tension and facilitate relaxation, release, and an improved range of motion in the client.

After flirting with the idea of studying Thai massage for a few years, I finally made plans to go to Thailand and study for 2 months in the winter of 2017. I spent a month at a small school, Loi Kroh, where I worked one-on-one with a different teacher each week for 4 weeks to get a basic understanding of the practice and to develop primary techniques. After the first month, I began studies with Pichest Boonthumme, the venerable and well known master in Chiang Mai who teaches at his home every day.
